There are many restaurants in Jaco that offer a range of cuisines from Thai and Italian to fresh seafood, catering to locals and tourists alike. There are also super markets in Jaco that provide modern conveniences and products. Currently many of Costa Rica's fine organic fruit and produce are exported, but more and more are becoming available to the local market.

Costa Rica has good sanitation and the tap water is considered potable, however it is not recommended for drinking unless to purify or purchased purified water.
